Responsible Exploration.

We explore Ontario’s gold belts with a commitment to minimizing environmental impact, engaging meaningfully with Indigenous communities, and building genuine local value. These aren’t policies — they’re how we work.

Indigenous

Engagement &
Reconciliation

Big Gold’s project areas fall within Treaty 3 (Martin Kenty) and Robinson-Superior Treaty (Tabor) territories. We approach engagement with First Nations communities proactively — before field programs, not as a permitting checkbox.

Early engagement with affected First Nations prior to initiating any field work at each project
Preferential contracting with Indigenous-owned businesses for camp, transportation, and field services
Clear communication of project scope, methodology, and any potential surface disturbance to community representatives
Ongoing relationship building beyond the field season — not episodic consultation
Environment

Low-Footprint
Methods

Early-stage gold exploration can be conducted with minimal surface impact. We use methods chosen specifically to reduce disturbance: portable equipment, helicopter access, and systematic sampling protocols that avoid unnecessary clearing.

Portable, battery-operated geophysical instruments — no generators, no cut lines
Helicopter-supported access at both project areas minimizes linear disturbance
All drill pads, sumps, and temporary structures are rehabilitated to pre-disturbance condition after use
Strict fuel and chemical handling protocols in all field camps; no refueling near water bodies
Community

Local Employment
& Procurement

Northern Ontario communities host our exploration programs. We create tangible local benefit by prioritizing hiring and procurement from nearby towns and Indigenous businesses, keeping as much field program spend in the region as possible.

Preferential hiring of local geologists, assistants, and camp workers from communities near each project
Fuel, accommodation, and supplies sourced from regional businesses where available
Ontario-registered contractors and consultants preferred for all technical and professional services
